Apply for Admission
Application Instructions
The application is not considered finished until the following six steps are completed. Review the Program Information page for specific dates and deadlines.
- 2026 Spring/Summer Program (apply Oct 29–Nov 14, 2025, for priority consideration)
- 2026 Fall Program (apply June 5–19, 2026, for priority consideration)
- 2027 Winter Program (apply August 1–15, 2026, for priority consideration)
Important Health Information (beginning Winter 2024)
While having a COVID vaccine and booster are no longer required to apply for or participate in a Jerusalem Center Program, we strongly encourage students to be up-to-date on all vaccinations, including flu shots and COVID vaccines/boosters. While vaccines may not always prevent an infection, the evidence is that they reduce the severity of the illness. If you get sick, minimizing the days away from class and participating in the Center's field trip program is in your best interest. In addition, if you haven't had a COVID vaccine/booster, you may be required to quarantine within the Center if you contract COVID. If admitted to a Jerusalem Center Program, you are agreeing that you can be tested for COVID if the Center deems it necessary.
Step 1: Eligibility Check
Step 2: Academic Record
- BYU student records are available to us online.
- BYU–Idaho and BYU–Hawaii students must
- request an official transcript be sent either by email to jerusalem@byu.edu, or by mail to the Jerusalem Center's Provo office
- send a copy of current enrollment to verify continuing full-time status (official verification from Registrar's Office or copy of current class schedule).
Step 3: Passport Verification
Be ready to upload a copy of your passport to the application. If you do not currently have a passport, you will be asked to enter the date you applied for one in the application.
Step 4: Ecclesiastical Endorsement
You will need a NEW Level-2 endorsement—with both bishop and member of the stake presidency—for the current academic year (even if there is a continuing endorsement on file). Current missionaries need only one interview by their mission president. Use the button below to change your endorsement status to NEW APPLICANT (since you are applying for a new program) and complete by two weeks after the posted two-week time period for application submission. Questions about this process should be directed to the BYU Honor Code Office (hco@byu.edu, or 801-422-2847).
Step 5: Online Application
The online application button is available below when applications are open for each program and after eligibility has been determined with Step 1 above. (Refer to the Program Information page for specific dates). Sections include:
- Part 1—Student Information
- Part 2—Student Commitment & Confidential Report
- Part 3—Expectations of Participation
- Part 4—Student Essays (answer 3 questions in 200 words or less for each question):
- Describe a time when you were faced with a situation involving people of different cultures or religious beliefs and how you responded.
- Tell us about a time when you handled something difficult while away from home without your normal support systems to aid you.
- Describe a time when you disagreed with a rule or guideline. How did you respond to the situation.
- Part 5—Matters of Sensitivity & Commitment
- Part 6—Participation Agreement—initialed and signed by the student and either 1) uploaded to online application, or 2) sent as an email attachment to jerusalem@byu.edu.
Step 6: Pay Deposit
Submit $400 deposit as soon as possible after submitting your application. Applications without a deposit received before the deadline will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
You may pay the deposit in one of the following ways:
- Online by credit/debit card (includes a $4.50 non-refundable processing fee) with the button below.
- or in person at BYU Continuing Education Registration (116 HCEB) before the application deadline.
Important Note: The $400 deposit is non-refundable if the student receives initial placement in the program and later chooses to withdraw.
